Plot:

Late 19th-century England. Eccentric illustrator Louis Wain falls in love with his sisters' governess, Emily. Their romance and a stray kitten named Peter inspire Louis to create whimsical, sometimes psychedelic paintings of anthropomorphized cats. His art forever changes the public's perception of felines, but Wain himself must face a lifelong battle with tragedy and his declining mental health.
