“Bugonia”

A sci-fi black comedy from Yorgos Lanthimos (“Poor Things”, “The Lobster”). An absurd and unsettling story about faith, madness, and saving the world.

About the film:

• Director: Yorgos Lanthimos

• Cast: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons

• Runtime: 118 minutes

• Genre: Black comedy / Sci-fi / Thriller

Plot:

Two obsessed conspiracy theorists kidnap a high-powered CEO (Emma Stone). They are convinced she is an alien plotting an invasion of Earth, and only they can prevent the catastrophe. But the line between delusion and reality is thinner than it seems.

Why watch:

• Another collaboration between Lanthimos, Emma Stone, and Jesse Plemons — the established trio from “Kinds of Kindness”

• A reimagining of the cult Korean plot through the lens of the "Greek Weird Wave"

• The director’s signature style: an uncomfortable atmosphere, dry humour, and visual perfectionism

• Score by Jerskin Fendrix, who worked on “Poor Things”

Language: English with English subtitles

Age rating: 18+
